A round table and master class on cancer planning and treatment with the Halcyon radiotherapy system was held on November 26 at the FSBI National Medical Research Center of Oncology named after N.N. Blokhin

Oncology Center specialists shared their experience in technical re-equipment of the department. In addition, they conducted a 4-hour masterclass for doctors and medical physicists to plan and treat patients with such localizations as rectum, head and neck, uterus body, bones, and breast.

"Today, three hundred and eighteen patients are being treated in the radiotherapy department of the Blokhin Cancer Center, 170 of whom are being treated with the Halcyon linacs that the center had put into operation at the beginning of 2021," said Marina Chernykh, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Deputy Director for Medical Care at the KiER Scientific Center and Head of Radiotherapy Department at N.N. Blokhin Cancer Research Center of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation.

Using Halcyon significantly reduces treatment time, which is especially important for patients with pain. A single procedure takes about 7 minutes. In addition, the machine simplifies the work of the staff, minimizing the risk of human error. The masterclass participants were able to see for themselves observing the work of the department's specialists in real-time.

"Today's event was proof that the Halcyon linac is the solution demanded by both federal and regional hospitals since it successfully manages queues and helps solve all clinical challenges.

The launch of the production allowed us to make the most advanced radiotherapy technology more affordable in comparison with imported analogs, so we supported the event with great enthusiasm and are very grateful to the specialists of the oncology center for such a deep dive into the department of life," said Deputy Director of Fabrika RTT Dmitry Rayskiy.
